The Appeal of Animal Jewelry PDF Print E-mail

Animal jewelry has always been popular. Even in ancient Egypt, people wore jewelry fashioned after animals like the cat and the ibis. In modern times, you see animal jewelry captured in charm bracelets and necklaces. Why is animal jewelry still popular today? Here are a few reasons to consider when you think about how appealing animal jewelry can be.

1) Animals are nice to look at.

Who can ever get tired of watching birds fly or kittens play? Because animals are fun to look at in nature, jewelers use them in their work. People often go to nature for inspiration and then use it in their creations. Animals have a simple elegance to them that is always complementary to a nice outfit.

2) Animal designs don’t go out of style.

Fads and trends are just that; they are here today and gone soon after. Animal designs seem to withstand all of that because they don’t change. Over the course of human existence, animals have remained in about the same state as they were when we first saw them. Polka-dots, loops, zigzags, and starburst bracelets all go out of style at some point. Animals have a degree of permanency that allows for constant design inspiration.

3) The animal depicted in the jewelry represents the person wearing it.

My mother has a leopard lapel that she got from her mother as a birthday present. She and her family come from South Africa, so the leopard lapel reflects great significance to her roots. My mother likes to wear it on special occasions, to church, and just for fun because it reminds her of home.

Other people wear certain animal jewelry because it is a representation of them. Someone who wears a lot of dolphin jewelry might have an affinity for the ocean, freedom, playfulness, and intelligence. Someone else might like elephant jewelry because they are bold, strong, and majestic. Overall, animal jewelry can be a symbolic interpretation of the individual and an appealing display for others to observe.

URGENT Request For Help on Larry King Live Show Tonight! PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 21 February 2008 03:01
Representatives from the the Humane Society and the American Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) were on the Larry King Live Show tonight on CNN, Saturday September 10.

Here is the latest update on the plight of dogs, cats and other animals WHO HAVE NOT BEEN RESCUED in New Orleans and other stricken areas :

The rescuers need more people, more people to help them rescue the thousands of dogs, in particular, left behind. The Louisiana and Federal Government (namely the US Coast Guard, the US Navy, FEMA etc.) are refusing to help them. Although they could help, they have been given orders to not pick up dieing and abandoned animals.

The Animal Rescue people are begging the government to help, but they will not.

I just saw a report on CNN just after the Larry King Show tonight. Many of you likely saw it also. A US Coast Guard officer checked a house, found nobody in it, and a small black Puppy ran up to him and begged him to take him with him (Rescue him). The man said no on TV and said that no, sorry we cannot pick you up little dog. The dog was left behind with nobody to help him.

That is what the Federal Government and the State government is doing.

In the Bible, Matthew 25 states ...

"Then shall the King (Jesus) say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

For I was an hungred, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me ...

They asked him : when did we do these things for you ?

He said "Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Then the Lord said to them that did not help him, that they would be cast into Hell forever, because they refused to open their hearts and care for those in need ... those that they came across in need, in their life time.

Are not Dogs and Cats and other animals "some of the least of these" ? These were given to us by God as companions. In this major disaster because of Hurricane Katrina, there are still thousands of dogs, cats and other animals, that have been abandoned and are dieing due to our neglect and cruelty ...

In this case, the government has the manpower in the disaster areas to rescue all of the animals and people in distress. But, they have decided to let the animals die.

Will God not judge all of the United States of America for this incredible cruelty ? God is not stupid. Unless things change dramatically and in a hurry, thousands of his creation will die.

How Can You Help ?

Raise your voice, send faxes or phone calls to your state and federal government demanding that they help those that are trying to rescue animals that have been forgotten.

The story of the 12 animals zodiac in China PDF Print E-mail

The story of the 12 animals zodiac in China

One day, Tian Di (The God Above) wanted to manage all animals on earth. He took out 12 chairs and told the cat to tell 11 other animals to go to the sky palace.

When the cat told the ox about it, the rat overheard the news. The rat was very angry and he ran as fast as he could to the palace. As a result he got there before the ox. Tian Di then let him sit on the first chair. The ox took the second seat. Then the tiger, the rabbit all came and settled on the chairs. From then onwards, the rat comes the first in the zodiac cycle. The cat was not in the cycle because he went to tell other animals. Ever since, the cat is not in the zodiac cycle.

The truth is that cats are not originated from China but just imported from overseas. That is another reason why cats are not included in the animals zodiac.

In fact, different countries consist of different animals. India has lions whilst Egypt has cats.

In the Chinese animal zodiac, different animals have different characteristics.

Rat - Though it has nature of stealing. It is smart and has good
Ox - It is hard-working and ask for little.
Tiger - It is brave, strong, and is the king of all animals.
Rabbit - It is cute and loved by children. It runs very fast.
Dragon - The only imaginary animal. Only kings can be referred to as dragon. After all these years, people have come up with this description of a dragon: deer horn, fish scales, snake body, chicken feet and phoenix tail. And all Chinese people are the offspring of dragon.
Snake - Also known as little dragon. Snakes are known to be devilish because of
its poisonous nature. However, snakes are very useful, particularly its gall bladder, which is a very healthy medicine in China.
Horse - The fastest running animal. Before people invented vehicles, horses
were the only transportation tool.
Ram - An animal symbolizes submissiveness and good luck.
Monkey - Clever, like humans. It is often used to describe smart and clever children.
Cock - Hens are very protective to their chicks.
Dog - Although dogs are highly respected in the west and loyal to their masters,
in China, they are rude and not respectful. Chinese consider them not a cute animal.
Pig - The last one in the cycle. It is slow and lazy though they are clever.

It is believed that people born in different animal years would carry their characteristics and this would affect the person"s life. That is why the year of the dragon is highly favoured since people want their children to be as respectful as a dragon.
